Kembali lagi dengan saya Taufik.  Saya akan menjelaskan sedikit tentang apa itu knocking dan penyebabnya yang saya ketahui. Knocking memang terasa asing bagi orang yang tidak tahu tentang permesinan. Oktan

Kembali lagi bersama saya Taufik. Kali ini saya akan coba memberikan informasi tentang apa itu Oktan. Ketika berada di SPBU-SPBU sekitar kita, pernah gak kalian sewaktu mengisi bensin di SPBU tertera keterangan Pertamax 92 ? Pernah yah..pernah.. (Kasian kalo yang belum pernah lihat coba main-main aja ke SPBU biar gak penasaran) . Research Octane Number (RON) atau Oktan adalah angka yang menunjukkan seberapa besar tekanan yang bisa diberikan sebelum bensin terbakar secara spontan. Di dalam mesin kendaraan ataupun motor tempel, campuran udara dan bensin (dalam bentuk gas) ditekan oleh piston (masyarakat biasa menyebutnya seher) sampai dengan volume yang sangat kecil dan kemudian dibakar oleh percikan api yang dihasilkan busi. Karena besarnya tekanan ini, campuran udara dan bensin juga bisa terbakar secara spontan sebelum percikan api dari busi keluar.
